KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Oct 2025 – Bait Al Amanah, in partnership with the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR), the Australian High Commission (AHC), and the Asia Pacific University (APU), successfully hosted the Seminar on the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC): Past, Present and Future.
The seminar provided a timely platform to reflect on the enduring significance of the TAC as a cornerstone of ASEAN's peace and stability, while exploring ways to strengthen its role in addressing contemporary regional challenges.
A key highlight of the seminar was the presence of H.E. Ms. Danielle Heinecke, High Commissioner of the Australian High Commission in Malaysia, who delivered insightful remarks underscoring Australia's commitment to regional peacebuilding and multilateral cooperation.
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the Australian High Commission, our main sponsor, for their generous support and partnership in making this seminar a success. Our appreciation also goes to ASEAN-IPR and Asia Pacific University for graciously hosting and providing the space for meaningful discussions.
The event gathered esteemed participants from ASEAN member states, government ministries, think tanks, academia, and civil society organizations.
Discussions centered on the TAC’s evolving role in a shifting regional landscape, highlighting the need to ensure its continued relevance in promoting trust, dialogue, and cooperation among states.
